The Executive Director's Message The primary role of the Pike County Board of Developmental Disabilities, as it relates to the consumers it serves and their families, is in "Creating Opportunities" for individual growth and development. This is our primary motivation whether it is assisting new parents in maneuvering the services and support systems available to their children, helping infants and toddlers in the acquisition of life skills, or orienting a preschooler to an integrated and inclusive classroom setting. It guides our efforts in providing a curriculum that addresses the strengths and needs of children between the ages of six and twenty-two, and in providing an array of developmentally appropriate services and supports for our adult population. And it is realized as we strive to foster self-determination by making a variety of service options available and making certain that our individuals are aware of these choices.
